A man in his 60s whose description matches the suspect in a string of recent holdups robbed a Glendale bank Monday morning and escaped on foot, according to police.

The man, described as an elderly white male, walked into the Great Western Bank at 500 N. Glendale Ave. and handed the teller a note, said Glendale Police Sgt. Terry Jones. The teller gave the robber $900 and the man left the bank and ran away, police said.

Jones said the man did not show the teller a weapon. “We’ve had a rash of robberies” by a suspect with the same description, said Jones.

“He’s one of our senior citizens doing the robbery,” said Lt. Steve Campbell. “We’ve been looking for him a long time.”

Police were searching for the suspect Monday afternoon.
