World IN BRIEF : CHINA : 86 Die as Dynamite Cache Explodes

A load of dynamite stored by a businessman in the basement of a two-story apartment building has exploded in the central Chinese province of Hunan, killing at least 86 people and injuring more than 400. The building in Shaoyang collapsed when seven to 10 tons of dynamite exploded Wednesday evening. Local officials said efforts to rescue those trapped in the rubble were continuing. It was unclear why the explosives had been stored in the building.
