MOMA to Grow: New York’s Museum of Modern Art has bought the neighboring Dorset Hotel and two brownstones in a $50-million transaction that will nearly double the museum’s size, a museum spokesperson said Monday. The property was purchased from the estate of developer Sol Goldman after three years of negotiations. The purchase price is being raised by a small group of trustees who wish to remain anonymous, museum director Glenn D. Lowry said. It will take about 10 years to develop a plan for the sites and complete construction.

Exporting Modernism: The Norton Simon Museum in Pasadena has sent a condensed version of its recent, critically acclaimed exhibition “The Spirit of Modernism: Galka Scheyer in the New World” to the Ho-Am Art Museum in Seoul, the oldest and largest museum in Korea. The show is the first display of the Scheyer collection outside the United States. About 220 works will be on view from Thursday through April 28.
