Ceradyne’s 1995 Sales Set Record
Ceradyne Inc., completing its successful conversion from a military-dependent contractor to a diversified supplier of high-tech ceramic products, reported its first profit in five years for 1995 on record sales.
The company posted net income of $2.1 million, or 31 cents a share, for 1995, contrasted with a net loss of $1.9 million, or 30 cents a share, for 1994. Sales rose 30% to $23.4 million from $18 million. For the fourth quarter, profit totaled $721,000, or 10 cents a share, contrasted with a year-earlier net loss of $626,000, or 10 cents a share. Sales were up 22% to $6 million from $4.9 million.
The company, which at one point sold 90% of its products to the government, now gets 65% of its revenue from commercial products such as translucent brackets for orthodontic braces.
