Worker Gets Bonus With 30 1/2-Pounder

For Steve Conrad, one of the benefits of working at the Silverwood Lake marina is being able to get in some fishing from time to time.

He picked the right time Friday, casting an anchovy in the Cleghorn Canyon area and hooking into a striped bass that tipped the lake scale at 30 1/2 pounds.

Conrad theorized that an approaching weather front may have been responsible for the increased striper activity last weekend, but he wasn’t sure.

“All I know is that it just kind of went off,” he said.
