Splash Decision Postponed Again; Meetings Continue

Continental Indoor Soccer League officials on Thursday put off a decision on the Splash franchise until next week, setting the stage for weekend negotiations between a potential buyer and Ogden Facilities Management Corp., the company that previously owned the team and hopes to maintain a partnership.

“If the [board of] governors didn’t feel [the two potential buyers] were legitimate, I’m sure we wouldn’t be talking about it,” league spokeswoman Liz Miller said. The league has delayed folding the franchise for four weeks at the expense of moving forward in league operations.

Pond General Manager Brad Mayne will meet this weekend with an unnamed buyer from Arizona.

“The league has set up this meeting to sit down and discuss the opportunities,” Mayne said. “It’s either going to be a short meeting or a long meeting. If we can’t find common ground, there’s no sense in continuing the meeting.”

In exchange for a partnership, Mayne is offering free rent, game-day expenses and half the ancillary income to a buyer who will take over year-round staffing and day-to-day operations of the Splash.
