Louisiana Bar Agrees to Drop Racial Bias Policy
The owners of a small Cajun bar in Louisiana who last year denied entrance to a black federal prosecutor have agreed to drop their anti-black policies, legal authorities said Friday.
U.S. Atty. Mike Skinner said Lawrence and Ovey Patin, owners of La Poussiere bar in Breaux Bridge, La., had signed agreements with the Justice Department to post signs at their club stating discrimination was not permitted.
They must also teach employees about anti-discrimination laws, report regularly to government officials for three years, and run newspaper advertisements stating that the club will no longer discriminate against people by race.
