Let Your PC Do the Shopping at Home Fair

Would you like to learn how to use your personal computer to save money and time when shopping for a home and a mortgage?

Then plan to attend the seventh annual Times’ Home Buyers and Sellers Fair, to be held Saturday, March 2, from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., at the Los Angeles Convention Center.

A special presentation at 1:30 p.m. by “California Trends” columnist Bradley Inman will show you how to use the PC to access the Internet and the commercial online services to shop for home listings, compare mortgage rates, get expert real estate advice, find necessary tax forms and view new home subdivisions online.

In addition, mortgage lenders will be on hand with computers to pre-qualify home buyers and provide credit checks. And real estate companies will showcase online home listings on their computers.

Also, IRED News, an independent Internet real estate directory, will offer free demonstrations for using the World Wide Web to shop for a home.

The full-day fair, the largest consumer-education event of its kind in the country, will feature question-and-answer workshops on buying, selling and financing.

Besides the workshops, 50 exhibitors--including lenders, realty agents and home builders, as well as the state Department of Real Estate, Internal Revenue Service, FHA, VA and Consumer Credit Counseling Service--will be on hand to talk with you at their booths.
