Big Brothers of Greater Los Angeles will celebrate the opening of a satellite office in the Crenshaw district today with a lunch and community discussion from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Dulans Restaurant at 4859 Crenshaw Blvd.

Big Brothers coordinates mentorships for boys with older men to provide role models for the youngsters, said Lisa Bennett-Garrison, director of development for the organization.

The majority of the 400 boys on a countywide waiting list for a Big Brother are either African American or Latino, Bennett-Garrison said, and the new Crenshaw-based office should help in recruiting more minority men.
