Seniors Citizens’ Rent Subsidy Extended

Senior citizens in a rent-subsidized Inglewood housing complex can stay there, now that federal officials have announced that they plan to continue to help pay rent for at least another year.
The 20-year Housing and Urban Development contract on rent subsidies at Inglewood Meadows was scheduled to expire this year, said building manager Judy McCloud. U.S. officials notified McCloud that they will continue the program for another year while Congress reevaluates housing programs.
Inglewood Meadows’ 199 units house nearly 200 low-income seniors citizens. Residents pay 30% of their Social Security income toward rent, McCloud said.
