Rainbow Buys Part of Quantum

IRVINE — Rainbow Technologies Inc. acquired 58% of Quantum Manufacturing Technologies Inc. of Albuquerque, N.M.
A spokeswoman for Rainbow Technologies said the company made an initial payment of $1 million and will pay a total of $4 million over two years.
Rainbow Technologies said Quantum Manufacturing has obtained a license to market a process that uses a power ion beam to harden and smooth surfaces of glass and other materials, making them less susceptible to cracks and erosion. Rainbow makes data and software security products.
