Christian Haren; Actor and Model Warned Youths of AIDS

Christian Haren, 61, actor and model who helped to educate young people about the dangers of AIDS. Under contract to MGM, Haren made several films in the 1950s and ‘60s, including “In Harm’s Way,” starring John Wayne. Haren also had roles on Broadway, among them Tony Richardson’s production of “The Resistible Rise of Arturo Ui.” In the early 1960s, Haren appeared as a model in print advertisements for Marlboro cigarettes and Budweiser beer. In later years, he owned CC Construction Co., a well-known gay bar in Palm Springs. After he contracted AIDS, Haren frequently spoke to young people about the disease and how to prevent it.
