Mahony on Parties

* I read with interest your article on the statements of Cardinal Roger M. Mahony at Loyola Law School (March 3).

I can further say that many Democrats have not left their party, but that the party left them. This is the party for which my father was national committeeman from California for 16 years.

The cardinal’s criticisms of the political parties were well put as to abortion and euthanasia and right about housing the poor.

We must all take a stand on what is morally right and not just what is politically advantageous at election time to those running for public office.
