Standard Microsystems Unit Appoints Engineering Executive

Kenneth Brinkerhoff has been named divisional vice president of engineering for the System Products division of Standard Microsystems Corp., a personal computer products company. He will be responsible for all the division’s engineering operations in Irvine. Brinkerhoff, who joined Standard Microsystems in 1987 as director of communications software development, was previously a founder of Kantek Inc. In addition, Eileen Conlon was appointed divisional vice president of manufacturing. She had been director of production control. Steven Schmid was named divisional vice president of new product development. He joined the company in 1989 as a product marketing manager. Before that, he held various marketing and engineering positions with IDR Inc., Esprit Systems and Hazeltine Corp. Also, Clem Russo, a divisional vice president, has been placed in charge of customer management. He came to the company last year as division vice president of manufacturing after serving as chief operations officer and vice president of marketing at Computer Products in Florida.

* Kurt Bloxdorf has been appointed director of North American customer services for the Cerplex Group Inc., a Tustin provider of electronic parts repair and logistics service. He was formerly national sales director for the company. Before joining Cerplex last July, Bloxdorf was sales and marketing manager at Bell Atlantic Computer Technology Services in Milwaukee.

* Mark Whitebook has joined Prolux Corp., a San Juan Capistrano designer of LCD-based projection systems, as vice president of research and development. Since 1993, he has been a partner and principal engineer for Radiant Imaging, where he participated in the co-development of LCD-based multimedia projectors with Prolux Corp. Prior to that, he was with Advanced Interventional Systems in Irvine and Laser Surgery Software in Winter Park, Fla.

* Gan Mukhopadhyay has been named to the newly created position of vice president of public works for Leighton & Associates Inc., an Irvine geotechnical and environmental engineering firm. He will be responsible for directing the day-to-day technical and business-development operations of the company’s public works efforts. Mukhopadhyay has been with the company 10 years.

Jon S. Holmgren has been appointed senior vice president and chief financial officer of Holmes & Narver Inc. in Orange, an architecture, engineering, construction and management and operations firm. He was previously president of TRC-Environmental in Windsor, Conn. Holmgren rejoins Holmes & Narver after several years, having formerly served as operations vice president of the Albuquerque division.

* William T. Cloake has joined Unit Instruments Inc. as director of quality. Cloake’s experience includes 12 years at CalComp, where he was engineering manager, director of quality assurance and director of operations. Unit Instruments in Yorba Linda is a manufacturer of mass flow controllers for the semiconductor industry.

* Bradley S. Karro has been named president and chief executive of MaterniCare Inc., a Laguna Hills company that manages obstetric and gynecologic physician groups. Karro was formerly president and chief operating officer of Beech Street Corp., a managed care organization. Before that, he was assistant vice president at Mulberry Street Investment Co.

* Barbara Daly has joined Gladstone International in Irvine as account manager. Before joining the public relations firm, she handled press relations and issues management for Orange County Supervisor Don Saltarelli.
