Forum to Highlight Child Abuse Problem
A local child welfare group will sponsor a community forum on child abuse April 2 in Studio City in recognition of National Child Abuse Prevention Month.
The Sherman Oaks-based H.E.L.P. Group, which works with abused and mentally disabled children, will host a breakfast and panel discussion from 8 to 9:30 a.m. at the Sportsmen’s Lodge.
Panelists will include Deanne Tilton Durfee, executive director of the Inter-Agency Council on Child Abuse and Neglect; LAPD Deputy Chief Martin Pomeroy, commanding officer of the Valley Bureau, and Cyndi James Gossett, a child abuse prevention advocate.
Co-sponsored by the San Fernando Valley Chambers of Commerce and the LAPD, the event is open to the public.
