. . . Newport Beach officials announced a police captain had been taken off active duty after his arrest by Santa Ana police for stealing a $20 pair of Levis 501 jeans from the Price Club in Santa Ana.
The captain, a 20-year veteran, was head of the department’s administration division. He later applied for a stress-related medical retirement.
