From Times Staff and Wire Reports

Rodeo cowboys and ranchers took part in a real-life cattle roundup when police called on them to help catch about 100 cows that had run wild after a triple-decker cattle truck overturned near Mesquite, a Dallas suburb. Two dozen cows were killed when the truck driver misjudged a turn and his 18-wheeler turned on its side, freeing the other cattle. Police rushed to the scene and asked cowboys from the Mesquite rodeo and local ranchers to help them in the roundup. Several cars were damaged when the panicked cows rushed across roads. Police said at least 87 cows had been rounded up but that several were still missing.
