BUYERS BEWARE

Obviously, no one knows what’s going to happen with Nomo cards, but here are some general shopping tips:

* Regionalism is important to collectors because team sets cost more among the team’s fan base. Thus, Dodger cards generally cost more in California than they do in, say, Wisconsin.

* The same card is not necessarily the same price everywhere. For example, a Zenith Rookie Roll Call Nomo promo card has been priced from $15 to $100. Smokey Robinson’s mama was right more than 30 years ago: “You better shop around.”

* And a warning to Dodger collectors: Outfielders Todd Hollandsworth and Roger Cedeno as well as Korean pitcher Chan Ho Park are all legitimate rookie of the year candidates, which could translate to an ocean of expensive insert cards.
