From Times Staff and Wire Reports
Jailed attorney F. Lee Bailey was a step closer to freedom after a federal judge in Tallahassee, Fla., approved Bailey’s proposal to pay nearly $2.4 million to be used toward securing contested stock held in a Swiss account. Bailey, who was imprisoned March 6, is serving a six-month sentence for contempt of court at the Florida Detention Center. Bailey has been trying for weeks to raise cash to free the stock to comply with a court order and free himself from jail.
