New Mexico Warns Drivers of Duplicate License Plates

SANTA FE, N.M. —
The state Motor Vehicles Division has discovered an error that its director thinks has 4,000 residents sharing only 2,000 license numbers.
Some innocent people may get tickets recorded and points charged against their licenses because the person sharing their number has broken the law, director Gary Montoya said. Montoya said Wednesday that his staff learned of the duplication this week.
