Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country (KNBC Monday at 9 p.m.) is back in the groove after the misfire of “Star Trek V.” This topical-symbolic 1991 space voyage continues the tradition of even-numbered “Star Trek” movies being superior. Supposedly the last of the series, director/co-writer Nicholas Meyer and his collaborators generate so much star-struck dash and flash with the dissolving Klingon Empire obviously paralleling the modern Soviet Union turmoil that you may find the valedictory premature.

Firewalker (KTLA Monday at 8 p.m.) is a breezy, big-scale 1986 comedy-adventure that takes scruffy soldiers-of-fortune Chuck Norris and Lou Gossett on a lively pursuit of Aztec treasure.

Its tale of violence-prone lovers facing off against a fatalistic universe may be terribly familiar, but the 1992 Guncrazy (KCOP Wednesday at 8 p.m.), has several things going for it. First-time director Tamra Davis brings a refreshingly empathetic approach to the story, and stars Drew Barrymore and James LeGros have the sureness and authority to carry it off.

With the 1988 Hero and the Terror (KTLA Friday at 8 p.m.) Chuck Norris makes a determined effort to balance his martial arts displays with serious acting. On a modest level Norris succeeds, only to be tripped up by an underdeveloped script. Norris plays O’Brien, a crack L.A. cop whose lover (Brynn Thayer) is a psychiatrist who has treated him for recurring nightmares in the wake of a near-fatal encounter with a serial killer.

Tim Hunter’s 1986 River’s Edge (KCOP Saturday at 6 p.m.) shows some pot-smoking kids trapped in a twisted legacy of the ‘60s: assuming their parents’ rebelliousness, but not their causes--too apathetic to react positively or morally when one of them commits a murder. It’s a rich scene, loosely based on fact, though the parts--especially a kittenish romance--don’t always jell.

KCET Saturday night double feature pairs those MGM 1952 classics on the movies, Singin’ in the Rain (at 9 p.m.) and The Bad and the Beautiful (at 10:45 p.m.).
