Wanda McKay, 80, stewardess and beauty queen who became a film and television actress in the 1940s and ‘50s. Born Dorothy McKay in Portland, Ore., she began her career as a hostess for TWA. The airline sent her to the Birmingham Air Show as its contender for Miss American Aviation in 1938. She won the title--and a contract with Paramount Studios. She went on to appear in about 40 feature films and early television series including “The Cisco Kid” and “The Lone Ranger.” Later, McKay was married to the late composer and singer Hoagy Carmichael. On April 11 in Los Angeles of cancer.
