Man’s Good Deed Returned by Anonymous Admirers
Anonymous donors have made the final car payment for a father of two who turned over to police $680 he found in a bush despite losing his ’88 Plymouth because he couldn’t afford the last $525 installment on a loan.
Bobby Nicholl, who is unemployed, said he drove his car home early Thursday with the “pink slip” ownership document in hand.
“The reaction from the community has definitely made this the icing on the cake,” Nicholl said. “Before I felt like I was doing the right thing. Now, I know I am.”
Nicholl recovered the money last Friday in his frontyard after robbers of a pizza parlor nearby discarded it while being chased by police. Since the story about his good deed was published, several area residents have donated money totaling about $650 and written letters of encouragement, Nicholl said.
“The best thing about all this is the letters that I’ve gotten,” he said. “They’re something I’m going to save and give to my kids.”
