Crane Brought In to Recover Jet Remnants
Flatbed trucks hauled in a barge, wooden beams and a crane Thursday as searchers prepared for the next step of the recovery of ValuJet Flight 592 from the Florida Everglades.
The ValuJet flight crashed May 11, killing all 110 people aboard.
Searchers have recovered only about 25% of the DC-9 and have been hampered by lightning, concerns about alligators and poisonous snakes, and the muck of the Everglades.
The National Transportation Safety Board hopes to find the cockpit voice recorder to provide clues to the cause of the crash.
Speculation has centered on a cargo load of volatile oxygen generators in the belly of the plane.
