Lining Up His Life After Ingram Micro

Linwood A. Lacy stunned the computer distribution industry last week when he abruptly resigned as chief executive of giant Ingram Micro Inc. just months before the company was going to sell stock to the public for the first time.

In a phone interview from his Richmond, Va., home, Lacy declined to shed any new light on why he left. (The company has explained his departure in somewhat vague fashion, referring only to “irreconcilable differences regarding corporate governance.”)

But Lacy, who ran Ingram Micro for nearly 10 years, did say what his short-term plans were.

“I’m going to the beach and picking my boat up,” he said, “and I’m going to fish until I drop.”
