51st Annual Fish Fry, Carnival Begins Today

The 51st Annual Fish Fry & Carnival, sponsored by the Costa Mesa-Newport Harbor Lions Club, begins today at Lions Park in Costa Mesa.

The festivities will open at 5:30 p.m. with $5 fish dinners as well as carnival rides, games and drawings. The event will continue from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday and from noon to 8 p.m. Sunday.

Some of the highlights will be music and dance shows, a baby contest and a beauty contest. Also, free vision, hearing and blood pressure screenings will be offered Saturday and Sunday from 1 to 8 p.m.

Sponsors said they expect to raise $100,000 this year for Costa Mesa and Newport Beach charities, youth organizations and sports leagues.
