From Times Wire Reports

The government said it has found the bodies of seven French monks kidnapped two months ago by the Armed Islamic Group, or GIA. The GIA said in a statement last week that it had cut the monks’ throats after Paris refused to negotiate a prisoner release. Algeria’s Interior Ministry, in a brief statement carried by the official APS news agency, said the monks’ bodies were discovered several miles from the town of Medea, an Islamist stronghold 45 miles southwest of Algiers.
