Fluor-Daniel Is Nation’s Largest Contractor Third Year in Row

IRVINE — Fluor Corp.’s chief operating unit, Fluor-Daniel Inc., was the nation’s largest general contractor again last year, according to the trade journal Engineering News-Record. The company also was ranked as the nation’s fourth-largest engineering and design firm in the magazine’s annual tally of the leading building and engineering companies.
Three other Orange County-based general contractors, all from Irvine, also were listed among the top 400 commercial and industrial contractors, based on annual revenue. Seven other county-based companies made the magazine’s separate list of the 500 largest engineering and design firms.
Fluor-Daniel’s $7.5 billion in contracting revenue last year earned it the first-place ranking for the third consecutive year, and eight of the last nine years.
Other Orange County contractors on the top 400 list were MBK Construction, 151st with $150 million in revenue; Brinderson Corp., 190th with $126 million in revenue, and Snyder Langston Builders, 206th with $120 million revenue.
For engineering and design work only, Fluor-Daniel took fourth place with $786 million in revenue. Holmes & Narver Inc. in Orange was 43rd with $150 million in revenue.
