MONTANA : ‘Freemen’ Declare Hearing ‘Bogus’

The anti-government “freemen” who ended their 81-day standoff last week remained defiant in court, calling the proceedings “bogus” and refusing counsel. Rodney Skurdal, 43, one of the freemen leaders, was led into court in leg irons. U.S. Magistrate Richard Anderson denied him bail, saying: “I’m not going to play games with you trying to split the middle of whether you have a lawyer or don’t.” Skurdal had said he was unclear about whether he had an attorney.
