OLYMPIC REPORT 30 DAYS TO THE GAMES : Errors, Koch Lead U.S. Past Australia

The United States took advantage of five Australian errors and increased its winning streak to 31 games with a 7-1 victory at San Antonio.

Starter Billy Koch from Clemson gave up one run, scattering three hits over five innings. He walked six and struck out eight. Jeff Weaver from Fresno State and Randy Wolf of Pepperdine held the Aussies to two hits over the final four innings.

Cal State Fullerton’s Mark Kotsay was two for four with two runs batted in. He hit a two-run homer during a three-run seventh inning as the U.S. built a 5-1 lead. Titan teammate Brian Loyd was two for three and scored a run.
