Glenn T. Sink; Aircraft Engineer, Expert on Corrosion

Glenn T. Sink, 68, an aircraft engineer who was an expert on metal corrosion. Brought up in South Gate, Sink earned a chemistry degree at Occidental College. He spent most of his career at Douglas Aircraft Co., garnering several patents on chemical processes. Sink lectured and presented papers around the world on his research in hydrogen embrittlement failure. After his retirement in 1983, he became an overseas consultant, working in Shanghai and Chengdu to help China build commercial aircraft nose sections. He also helped organize the Airlines Plating Forum, an international group of aircraft manufacturers and airlines that shares technical information. Fluent in three languages, Sink was an avid sailor, private airplane pilot and jazz pianist. On June 12 in San Pedro of pancreatic cancer.
