Kiwi International Suspends 10 Flights: The Newark, N.J.-based discount carrier said it will fly 51 of its 61 scheduled flights today. Kiwi International Airlines voluntarily agreed over the weekend to suspend various flights because of problems with its pilot training records. The employee-owned airline also reached agreement with the Federal Aviation Administration on reducing its fleet to 11 Boeing 727-200s from 15, the FAA said. Kiwi said it will work with the FAA “to bring us to a level of compliance acceptable” to the agency. “Based on our meeting on Friday, I believe they want to see us flying at 100% of our schedule as soon as possible,” Kiwi added. The airline said the central issue is one of documenting pilot certification, not pilot competence.
