Discount Furniture Sale Aids City of Hope

In its annual drive to raise money for medical research, the City of Hope will sponsor a discount furniture sale in Reseda during the next two months.

Featuring new items from manufacturers such as Simmons, Sears, Boyd and Benchcraft, the eighth annual sale will continue until Aug. 30 at a storefront at 18238 Sherman Way, said spokeswoman Pam Richardson. The shop is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursdays through Sundays.

Merchandise will include mattresses, sofas, dining room sets, bedroom sets, lamps, bookcases, lamps, recliners and office furniture, Richardson said. Items will sell for as much as 60% off the retail price, she added.

Proceeds from the summertime sale will benefit cancer research and treatment at the City of Hope National Medical Center and Beckman Research Institute in Duarte.

The shop will be closed through Sunday for the holiday weekend. It will reopen July 11.
