Christie Decides to Run in Atlanta

Share

After a year of keeping his fans, rivals and the media guessing, Linford Christie announced he would defend his Olympic 100-meter title in Atlanta.

The 36-year-old British sprinter also said he would compete against world record-holder Michael Johnson in the 200 meters.

Last summer, in an emotional announcement on television, Christie said he wouldn’t run in the Olympics because he wasn’t getting enough respect from the media and the British Athletics Federation.

Since then, Christie had refused to say whether he would change his mind.
