JETHAWK REPORT : Sealy Hoping for a Toehold

Share

Catcher Scot Sealy, who took a foul ball off the big toe on his left foot in the ninth inning Wednesday night, will be X-rayed today to see if the digit is broken.

“I don’t think it was broken, but I didn’t think my thumb was broken either,” Sealy said Thursday as he showed off a blue toenail in the clubhouse.

Sealy broke his thumb earlier this season, though it was not evident on the first X-rays.

If Sealy’s toe is broken he could be out four weeks.

Ricky Jordan, who had four hits including a two-run home run in his JetHawk debut Wednesday night, said it was a nice start after not seeing live pitching for 60 days due to rotator cuff surgery.

“I was pretty happy but I’ve still got a lot of work to do,” said Jordan, who will be with the JetHawks through Wednesday.

The last two games in Bakersfield were examples of what is becoming a disturbing trend for JetHawk Manager Dave Brundage.

On Tuesday the JetHawks scored eight runs in four innings, one in the next five. Wednesday they scored seven in the first four, two in the last five innings. The JetHawks still won both games.

“We just started making easy outs and going through the motions,” Brundage said. “I think we took them too lightly. We were lucky to get out of there the way we did.”
