U.S. Pitching Dominates South Korea

Clemson right-hander Billy Koch struck out 10 and gave up eight hits in 5 2/3 innings in Trenton, N.J., as the U.S. baseball team beat South Korea, 7-2 in the opener of a four-game series.

Mark Johnson and Jeff Weaver combined to pitch the final 3 1/3 innings to preserve the victory for Team USA, which improved to 21-3 this year.

Chad Green and Augie Ojeda had run-scoring singles in the second and Ojeda added a run-scoring double in the fourth to make it 3-1. Team USA added four runs in the seventh, the final two on Warren Morris’ single.
