The Ramifications of Same-Sex Marriages

Re the Letters to the Editor about gay marriages in the June 30 Life & Style: This is not to speak against this type of marriage, but to ask all if they have considered the ramifications of same-sex marriages.
To pass a law allowing same-sex marriages opens unlimited opportunities for those seeking a way around certain responsibilities. For example, what if two heterosexuals chose to marry because one does not have medical insurance but does have a long-term illness. A second example: Would there be a tax advantage if two heterosexual men or women chose to marry? These are but two questions. I am certain many more would come to the minds of others.
