TURKEY : Kurds Can Return, Premier Promises

Secular Turkey’s Islamist prime minister, Necmettin Erbakan, promised a return home for thousands of Kurdish villagers who have fled a 12-year battle between the army and rebel Kurds. “Whoever wants to return to their villages, we will repair their homes and settle them back to their home,” Erbakan told a crowd in the mainly Kurdish-populated town Elazig. More than 330,000 people have fled fighting between the army and rebels seeking independence.
