BRITAIN : Royal Couple Clears 1st Stage of Divorce

A court granted Prince Charles and Princess Diana a decree nisi, the first stage of a divorce that will become final Aug. 28, when a decree absolute is granted. The decree nisi said the marriage had “irretrievably” broken down. Neither the prince nor princess was present at the hearing. The process cost the couple the equivalent of $125; the decree absolute will cost another $30.
