Paul Donaldson King, 69, Academy Award nominee for the motion picture “Operation Petticoat.” A native of Los Angeles, King earned degrees in English at Loyola University and USC and served in the Navy. He was writer or producer for more than 30 television series, including “Bat Masterson,” “Bonanza,” “Rawhide” and “Wagon Train.” King shared the Oscar nomination with Joseph Stone for the original story of the 1959 comedy about the Navy. King later was CBS vice president for program production for 10 years and NBC vice president of prime-time series for six. On July 10 in Newport Beach of cancer.
