Bohannon Wins Hardcourt Semifinal
HUNTINGTON BEACH —
David Bohannon of Garden Grove beat Ken Robinson of San Carlos, 2-6, 6-1, 6-0, in the semifinals of the USTA 50-55 hardcourt championships Saturday at the Lindborg Racquet Club.
Bohannon will meet Dick Johnson of Ballwin, Mo., in the men’s 50 singles championship match, which will follow the 55 singles final at 10 a.m. The 55 final will match Len Saputo of Walnut Creek and Allen Carter of Dallas.
In the 50 doubles semifinal, Bohannon and partner Dennis Trout of Solvang were defeated by Peter Bronson of Phoenix and David Bryant of Oklahoma City, 6-4, 7-5.
Dick Leach of Laguna Beach and Jim Nelson of Newport Beach lost in the 55 doubles semifinal to Geof Grant of Sausalito and Gordon Smith of Greenbrae, Calif., 6-4, 6-4.
