Lexis-Nexis to Be Available on the Web: The move marks the first time that users will be able to access the online information service via the Internet’s World Wide Web without needing the Dayton, Ohio-based company’s proprietary software. Lexis-Nexis is a major source of background and other information for journalists and lawyers, among others. The first Internet product, Lexis-Nexis Advantage, a legal document information service, will be available by the fall, the company said. Several more Lexis-Nexis services will be offered by the end of this year. Lexis-Nexis is a division of Reed Elsevier, which is owned by Britain’s Reed International and the Dutch company Elsevier.
