Fee at State Beaches Rises to $6 From $5

The single-day fee for Bolsa Chica and Huntington state beaches is now $6 a visit, or $1 more than last summer.

In May 1994, the fee was reduced to $5 to see whether a lower rate would increase visitors and revenue. But there was not a significant change with the reduced fee, state Department of Parks and Recreation officials said.

The return to $6 matches fees at other Southern California beaches, officials said. The new fee went into effect Saturday.
