EACH PUNCH IS A LOVE CONNECTION
U.S. middleweight boxer Rhoshii Wells has a crush on American gymnast Dominique Dawes, and he doesn’t care who knows.
In fact, he hopes she knows, but isn’t sure.
The soft-spoken Wells, 19, who lives in nearby Riverdale, Ga., says he still hasn’t met the diminutive Dawes, but says that he’s sure his success in the boxing competition will catch her attention.
“She should notice me after this,” Wells said. “I haven’t tried to call her or talk to her, I’ve just been focusing. But after I get the gold medal, I’ll definitely be getting in contact with her.”
Wells will try to become the first American to move into the medal round Tuesday in the quarterfinals against Dilshood Yarbekov of Uzbekistan.
It is not known whether Dawes will attend.
