RU-486

* Looked at in the dimmest of lights, RU-486 is a classic medical and scientific failure. It is the AZT of the birth control/reproductive health realm (“FDA Panel Calls for OK of Abortion Pill,” July 20).

There is no difference between the “emergency abortion/morning after pill” and the cleaner, more clinical-sounding RU-486 except for labels and semantics. RU-486 allows abortion doctors who have previously and justifiably borne their share of the guilt for this unsavory practice to dump it all on the client. Science, their only god, has given them a slick way to remove themselves from a dirty equation where the sum is always death.

Where is the science that does no harm? Where are the safe, natural alternatives to this after-the-fact junk medicine?
