* “ ‘Sabbath War’ Flares in Holy City” (July 26) completely fails to inform readers that there is another Orthodox group in Israel and around the world that is labeled “modern Orthodox.” These Jews are no less orthodox than the fanatics described in the article and in fact are probably more so, as they wouldn’t throw stones on the Sabbath, which is definitely forbidden according to Jewish law and even on other days would be forbidden since it can endanger life.
The “modern Orthodox” are more tolerant of the secular and often try to encourage them with various programs and kindness instead of turning totally against them as the fanatics do.
