OUTLOOK

The Chargers were flattened by injuries last season but still scrambled to a respectable fourth-place finish in one of the county’s toughest leagues. Sunset is not getting any easier, though, so Edison will have to get better. The task is not that hard, with 50 returning lettermen. Edison’s offensive line will benefit by two Ocean View transfers in Ketcham, a Golden West League first-team pick, and Francis Windrath. The defense, which gave up the third fewest points in the league (155) will be a bit more suspect, especially at cornerback, where the inexperience will be felt the most. White has a functional quarterback in Grady (1,005 yards), who must improve his touchdown-to-interception ratio (eight each). Getting the ball more often to Buckingham (16 catches, 249 yards) and Boerner (23 catches, 405 yards, six touchdowns), both honorable mention all-league selections, is mandatory. Replacing graduated running back Alex Forero (1,393 yards, 11 touchdowns) is another priority, although White has expressed confidence in Catani (240 yards).
