Cheap (Space) Shot

In the Sept. 7 Calendar, Jon Matsumoto wrote that “ ‘The Cape’ is an over-idealized look at astronauts and the aviators hoping to become space adventurers.”

Without having seen the actual TV show, why do I get the sneaking suspicion that if the show he was reviewing had the same plot and story, but was about the drug-addicted, emotionally dysfunctional, morally corrupt movie industry that it would then be “high culture”?

I notice a pattern, and I hope the readers of this letter will start to notice, that almost any movie glorifying the film industry is often reviewed by critics as “high art” and those that deal with all else are just, well, “over-idealized.”
