General Magic President Resigns, CEO Leaves: The Sunnyvale-based Internet software producer said Marc Porat plans to step down as chief executive and Robert Kelsch has resigned as president. General Magic Inc. said the functions of president and chief executive will be combined into a single position, which will be filled by Steve Markman. Markman had been executive vice president and general manager of the Novell products group for Novell Inc. Porat, who founded General Magic in 1990, will become an advisor to the firm and remain on the board. General Magic’s stock closed up 25 cents to $4 on Nasdaq.
