Two Ventura County computer firms have combined to form a new company specializing in document imaging and systems management.

Rick Ruffinelli, president of Ventura Computer Services Inc., and Earl Needham and Albert McCartney, owners of The Quest Group, have formed VCS in Ventura to offer a variety of high-tech computer services.

Document imaging enables businesses to convert anything that is on paper to electronic data that is accessible by computer. VCS will work with large and small companies and public agencies to automate their current business systems, reduce paperwork and allow information to be shared more easily.

“The document imaging industry is a little more than 2 years old but is expected to be a $5-billion-a-year industry by 1997,” McCartney said. “This new entity, which is so far unique to Ventura County, was created specifically to meet the requirements of this industry.”

In addition to document imaging and management systems, VCS will offer its clients scanning, computer output to laser disc, local and wide area networks and Internet solutions.

Needham and McCartney will oversee marketing, product development and sales. Ruffinelli will oversee the administrative functions of the company, as well as supervise all technological aspects of system design and implementation.
